We commend the absolute commitment and dedication displayed by all of our educators. Without the commitment and diligence of our educators and their focus on the task at hand, we are unlikely to achieve the goals we set for ourselves as a school.
We praise God for blessing the school abundantly in reaching the successes of 2009.
Learners matriculating from St Conrad’s College write the IEB examination at the end of each year. The Independent Examinations Board Matriculation is written each year and our learners consistently achieve excellent results. The majority of our learners continue with tertiary education in South Africa or abroad.
The IEB examination is accepted internationally which offers learners a myriad of choices. St Conrad College’s strength lies in its educator/learner ratio, with classes rarely exceeding 26. Importance is placed on each learner as an individual and on that individual’s personal development both academically, spiritually and emotionally.
The philosophy of the IEB is that assessment drives teaching and learning. The IEB believes that it provides assessment that stimulates and encourages teaching that develops the skills needed for success in life-clear thinking, analysis, evaluation, unambiguous communication, substantiation of opinion as well as a strong grounding in the fundamental skills and knowledge that underpin the subject curricula.
The IEB aims to conduct valid and reliable assessment, ensuring that the results achieved by learners are an accurate indication of their performance and a reliable indicator of potential success in tertiary study. A recent study by a top university in South Africa indicates that of the approximately 2,721 Bachelor’s degrees awarded at the December graduation ceremonies, 673 were to ex-IEB students - almost 25%. If one considers that only approximately 8000 learners sat for the final IEB examinations compared to the 600 000 writing the state examinations, 25% is a clear indication of the success rate IEB schooling offers.
It is the preparation of learners for life after school and the development and conditioning of skills, which go beyond subject –specific knowledge, that makes an IEB school different.
St Conrad’s College is the school of choice! Come and experience the ultimate in education. (www.st-conrads.co.za , 018 462 9023) |

THE SMART WAY TO LEARN
Technology has become an integral part
of education over the last few years.
St. Conrad's has
recognised the need for technology in the classroom and
has
therefore addressed this issue aggressively. As from
July , St. Conrad's
can boast with 5 Interactive Smart
Boards and 6 E-Beam Interactive
Whiteboards. These replace
the old blackboards and make learning and
teaching more
exciting. They are connected to a computer and all notes
are
recorded electronically. Printouts can be given to
learners or learners can take
a copy of these notes home
on a removable disc.
All notes can be placed on the school
server for learners and educators to
access. Access to
the Internet will further enhance the teaching process.
ST. CONRAD'S COLLEGE LEARNERS' PRAYER
Lord, hear my solemn Prayer:
"Make me an honour to my school, family and Country.
To be respectful in my behaviour and treat all I meet with dignity.
To give attention to sound knowledge that brings success.
To walk in truth, be unselfish and sincere in all my efforts.
To be healthy in my mind and body and humane in all my actions.
In activities, victory comes in having courage and sportsmanship
which makes me a winner.
Teach me loyalty, discipline and caring.
Above all, grant me a strong, persevering spirit which enables me
to meet the daily challenges of life"
Amen
Br. Matthew
